A combination of minimum order values, in-store picking and carefully selected markets have made sure that Safeway customers are as happy as the Safeway Financial Director. A company called Grocery Works controls the online operation of Safeway. Grocery Works is 54% owned by Safeway and 35% owned by Tesco who have brought their expertise in in-store picking over from Europe. Safeway service almost 1,000 zip codes in 7 states (plus Washington D.C.) through Safeway, The Vons and Genuardi's.
