Albertsons: Before being bought by a CVS/Super Valu/Cerberus consortium in January 2006, Albertsons were the second largest grocer in the US.  They are still the largest eGrocer, in terms of areas covered.  Over 1,000 zip codes are covered in 9 states, mainly out of Albertsons stores, but Acme Markets is also used in Philadelphia.
Albertsons originally picked their orders using a centralized warehouse and then changed to the wareroom option. A decision was then taken to use the in-store picking in 2002 and Albertsons have rolled out the in-store model with some success.  The in-store picking model allows greater flexibility, faster roll-out and less upfront costs.
